Wasted lives...over nothing...or rather, just because they can.

I read this report and I think it just made me worse(I am sick and in bed, some kind of bug that has been going around). I do not think we will ever really realize just how many lives have been wasted in that country. It is quite a long report but no doubt very enlightening in the ways of big men and mortality. Even though I am never surprised by anything in that country, still, the way we treat our fellow human beings never ceases to amaze me.

Is there anyway to hold these people accountable? After such a report, what is the next step? How can, we the people, make sure that the people involved go through the due process of the law and face the charges levied against them? what to do? what to do?

@Doja, you know the old saying, "truth is stranger than fiction", just because of how crazy it is...and also, "no smoke without fire"....some of that shit must be true for sure. All that SSS stuff, feels like some serious market version of the former K.G.B I swear! hehehehehehehe

I agree with you Waffarian, although it reads more like a flawed Robert Ludlum novel. Still . . .

I was hooked until this convenient bit,

"The man now asked me to narrate these indiscretions of Femi Fani-Kayode’s and before I got a quarter way into the selected story he fell asleep and I glanced right over his desk and read a full page of his interrogation guideline. Then I realized that the option of NEVER WALKING OUT OF SSS INCARCERATION ALIVE was real. I waited for the slumbering man to awaken and ask for me to be escorted back to the underground cell where I was incarcerated in."

Anyway, if true, there should be a witness trail from here to Gibralter. An enquiry would easily get to the bottom of this.

@patrice: hehehehe, I know! That part was just too much but then again...it makes it even more believable considering it is Nigeria....

I agree with you that more people should know about this, the question is, will they come foward?

OK???! Is this really, really 4 real.
I have nothing against SSS officers oh & excuse my ignorance, but the grammer seems above grade level. I had 2 pick up d dictionary a couple of times. it's also very 'wordy', i mean the speech is very 'flowery' - seems like it was writtenn by a 'writer' - u understand wat i mean?

I couldn't read it through in one sitting it was just 2 dense. My spirit just no gree. Well sha, if it's true - ain't nothin new under d sun. It's just to tiring and depressing 2 figure out what 2 do wit d information.

Hope dats not being jaded.

The report sounds true. The writer was clearly trained in some security service. It is peppered with jargon and written in the constrained fashion of someone who writes reports or official documents. Yes the writing style is rather atrocious in the excessive use of words like calamitous, but it reads more of someone who has spent a lifetime reading Nigerian journalism than that of a 'writer'.

Yes, the atrocities committed by people with power in Nigeria would sound too strange to be true to most people. We are talking of a country where people get blown up by letter bombs or killed in their homes by assassins in spite of police guards.

Read the link. Not particularly surprising;most politicians do tend to be greedy, self aggrandizing douche bags. The problem is the culture of impunity in Nigeria. You want to see where we could end up,look at Zimbabwe.Only thing is,we were never as well off as they were to begin with .
