On the question of love...

SHAKESPEARE

Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Hmmmm, Hmmmm, Hmmmm. If truer words ever spoken...

Shakespeare is not as well known for being a poet as he is a playwright. But boy, did he write some good poems!

Waffarian, Shakespeare is my G. For me, he is one writer that set history in literature.

And the guy speaks truth and wisdom, as in this Sonnet.

What I find amazing about shakespeare is that he wrote and lived in the 1600s but his works are still alive like any contemporary writer. His sonnets (over a hundred)are my favourites but it will take a genius to copy his style.

By the way, if you (geisha.song) think he was confused gender wise, you must have been watching a lot of movies. lol.

One of the reasons I come to this blog is that it inspires me to look for information. I found this link to the complete collection of shakespeare's poem (with notes). I feel like I just won a jackpot.
